Officially one Month Completed

As of last night we have been in Ecuador for one month.  It has been a good month.  It is hard to believe that we have been here that long and on the other hand it is hard to think of our life any other way.  This experience has already taught us so much and we still have four months left.  It is also hard to imagine what life will be like when we get back to Alabama.  We have been in transition since August.  First, we moved away from Kentucky into an apartment in Alabama with rented things.  Then we put most of the rest of our stuff in storage with the stuff that was already there and went visiting for Christmas.  We then left even more stuff behind in my parents' house and headed here to Ecuador.  It is amazing what little possessions you can live with and what you don't miss even though when you have those things you think you can't live without them.  When we get back to Alabama, we will have two storage units full of stuff to decide to keep or get rid of.  I know the kids will love having their toys back and I will love having my own bed back.  Other than that, I am not sure what is even in those storage rooms, but I am sure it will be like Christmas to get it all back.  I have been trying to point out how other people live and do laundry and what they eat to the kids to help them realize how blessed and lucky they are to have what they have.  Even the little we brought here is more than many people have.  Our house here is very well-equipped compared to many we see when driving to and from places.  It humbles me and I hope the kids realize it too.  Our experience here will definitely put a new perspective on what we "need" in a house when we return to the US too.  I am so thankful for this time and look forward to more good times.
