Well we had another successful adventure. We left yesterday morning and took four buses to get to Otavalo. We walked around for a little bit in town and then found the apartment we were staying in which belonged to the Oviedo's relative. It was a nice place with a kitchen and two bedrooms and two bathrooms. After we put our things down we went into downtown to walk around the huge artisan market and get some dinner. We loved the market and they had some really fun things. We bought some fresh bread and fruit for breakfast and some yogurt. We also bought Lucas an Ecuador soccer shirt which he loves. After shopping, we ate at a corner restaurant. Of course we got hamburgers and ham and cheese sandwiches and devoured them. After a good dinner, we headed back to the apartment. Everything in it was old and there was one television with 4 channels, so it was a little difficult to keep the kids controlled around all the antiques. We decided to dance for a little while and watch a cartoon in Spanish, and then the kids took a warm shower. They asked to sleep in the same bed which we happily obliged. Today we got up and cleaned up the apartment and then took a bus to a place to hike and see a waterfall. It was beautiful! The trails were nice for the kids too so they could take their time walking and playing with rocks, dirt and sticks. After hiking we walked around looking for a church with a noon service. We never found a service so we went into one of the churches and prayed for a little while. After praying, we walked around looking for a good lunch place. With today being Palm Sunday a lot of places were closed. We got really excited when we found a pizza place open, but the oven did not work so they had no food. Then we found a hamburger place in a mall and it was closed. So we ended up eating at a typical Ecuadorian place which no one really wanted but it was good. We then took the bus back and Melayna slept in my arm the whole way. I think she was exhausted. After we got home, we rested for a few minutes and then headed down for dinner. Matt went to church and the kids and I read the readings and talked about them. Lucas did a great job picking up in things he had heard before in his Bible. Overall, it was a great weekend.
