A Little Affection
At the daycare I am known for giving out hugs and high fives and other signs of affection to the kids. It seems the workers there are believers in tough love and do not dole out signs of affection often. As the weeks have gone on, there are more and more kids that come to me during the day for a hug or a pat on the head or to be picked up. I am someone who likes human touch when showing affection and thus I like to give it out too. During the day today I had about 9 kids that came to me once twice or even ten times just to "check in". I really like that role and enjoy the hugs. Two kids came and sat in my lap for a few minutes and then went back to playing. Melayna had a hard time adjusting to other kids in my lap when we started there, but now she comes to me just like the other kids and then goes back to playing. Lucas adjusted to it right away and still checks in often. Sometimes Melayna comes to me and says, "I just need a hug" or "I just love you!" It melts my heart. I will miss this role at the daycare when we leave, but at least the ones I love to hug the most are coming with me or at home waiting for us.
